Aus and its surroundings turn into a kaleidoscope of desert flowers after the rains
This coming weekend, Klein-Aus Vista, at the edge of the escarpment in southern Namib, will celebrate a once-in-a-decade phenomenon when the pre-Namib turns into an adjoining carpet of flowers about a month after receiving enough winter rain. .
Five different species of vibrant blue, purple and yellow flowers bloom, providing a wonderful natural spectacle like no other.
Klein-Aus Vista is a lodge in the Gondwana stable, located on the western side of the hills along the Namib Desert. It’s best known as the overnight stop for visitors who come to see the wild desert horses in Sperrgebiet National Park, but every time in a blue moon, its own surroundings turn into a fairy-tale wonderland when the blossoms grow in abundance from another parched land.
Naming the weekend “Flower Power”, Gondwana Collection said in a statement this special event on the 8th.e and 9e of August calls all lovers of the outdoors to enjoy and experience something so out of the ordinary that most people will only have one chance in their life to see it.
“Two days of mountain biking, fat-biking, electric biking or running awaits you to offer you a unique experience to observe the awe-inspiring landscape as it awakens in all its splendor,” said Gondwana adding that Klein-Aus Vista will offer daily excursions from noon to shortly after sunset.
For Namibians who have never seen this before, now is the opportunity to visit the South and breathe in the impossible beauty of the Namib wildflowers. Reservations can be made with Piet Swiegers on the Klein-Aus Vista Lodge facebook page, or by sending an email to [email protected] .
