Sail through the skies of the Namib Desert with Namib Sky Balloon Safaris
Namib Sky Balloon Safaris offers those wishing to take a dawn flight 3,000 feet above the ground a hot air balloon experience like no other, ending with a champagne breakfast.
Refilwe Moloto talks to Denis Hesemans from Namib Sky Balloon Safaris about the incredible journeys through the Namib Desert for those who want an out-of-this-world experience when visiting Namibia.
The hot air balloon flight offers riders incredible views of the vast open spaces of the Namib Desert, mountains, wildlife and its famous dunes.
It is located 320 kilometers southwest of Windhoek, at the entrance to the NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Although the flight only lasts one hour, the entire experience lasts around three and a half hours.
We take off at dawn just before sunrise. We fly for about an hour and wherever we can find a runway and a safe place to land, that’s where the balloon lands. Then we have a big champagne breakfast with an absolutely amazing buffet set in the middle of nowhere, where our guests enjoy sparkling and really good dishes, then we bring them back four by four to our starting point. It’s usually around three and a half hours.
